La Rioja Alta Wine Dinner
Tuesday 12th of March
Regulars at our Bow Lane wine dinners will need little introduction to Bodegas La Rioja Alta; visits from this most traditional of Rioja producers are pretty much an annual event. Why do we keep inviting them back? If you know the wines, you won’t be asking that question; La Rioja Alta are quite simply one of the finest producers of Rioja, and have been for over a century.
La Rioja Alta’s fame rests on its two Reservas, Viña Arana and Viña Ardanza, and its two Gran Reservas, 904 and the rare 890. Traditional methods are still used, and all of the wines spend considerable time in oak barriques. As well as the traditional Rioja wines; now made in a new winery just across the River Ebro from Haro, La Rioja Alta have three other wineries; Torre de Oña in the Rioja Alavesa, making more modern wines; Aster in Ribera del Duero, and Lagar de Cervera in Galicia, making Albariño.
Julio Saenz from La Rioja Alta will be at Bow Lane to present wines from all four wineries, but the emphasis will be on the legendary Reservas and Gran Reservas.
