Buying wines en primeur can be a little daunting even for the experienced buyers and drinkers; it often requires you to take a punt on the quality of the vintage, the quality of the producer and the reams of information produced by wine reviewers who may or may not share your taste in wines (or have a clue what they’re doing).
So as ever, your good friends at Planet of the Grapes are here to lend a hand and guide you through the celebrated 2015 Burgundy vintage by providing you with an opportunity to “try before you buy”, or just “try” if the mood so takes you.
On Tuesday 13th of June at our Bow Lane restaurant we will be holding a Burgundy 2015 en primeur Wine Dinner. We will be showing a selection of our favourite 2015 Burgundies – both whites & reds, matched with some traditional Burgundian food.
The wines on tasting will be as follows:
Rully Blanc 1er Cru ‘Les Cloux’ Domaine Belleville
Puligny-Montrachet Village Andre Moingeon
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Vergers’ Andre Moingeon
Savigny-Les-Beaune Veilles Vignes Domaine Marechal
Morey-Saint-Denis Veilles Vignes Domaine Remi Jeanniard
Nuits-Saint-Georges Village Domaine Remoriquet
Pommard ‘La Chanière’ Domaine Marechal
Matt Harris – our “King of Burgundy” – took one for the team, and spent much of January shivering in cold wine cellars with nothing but an endless supply of great wines to keep him warm – it was a truly selfless act! Armed with his copious tasting notes, Matt will be in the rather warmer surroundings of Planet of the Grapes Bow Lane to talk you through both the wines from the dinner, and other wines available to purchase.
We do hope you can join us on Tuesday 13 June for a great opportunity to taste some truly great wines.
